With the forecast for Saturday calling for a 70 percent chance
of rain and the last couple weeks of low car counts on Saturday
nights. Thunderhill Raceway owner Wayne Burns has decided to try
a Friday Night lineup of racing.
“Racers and fans have more options on where to race on Saturdays
now, with more than 8 tracks competing on Saturday nights in our
area folks are wanting an option to race on Friday’s here at
Thunderhill, those that can and will be able to race with us on
Friday nights will now have the option to race somewhere else on
Saturdays too. We at Thunderhill Raceway want all of our local
tracks to do well, as much as we want Thunderhill too. We feel
this is a good decision for everyone to be able to attend
Thunderhill Raceway, as well as other venues each and every
weekend. We’ve had a lot of calls from racers and fans wanting
us to make the switch to Friday nights and we want to full fill
their wishes. We want to thank everyone for their support and we
look forward to seeing you all this Friday April 26th, 2013.”

Thunderhill Raceway Season Opener under the Friday Night Lights. Looking forward to seeing old and new faces at Thunderhill this 2013 season under the new Friday Night Racing era at Thunderhill and all the great racing action. March 29th, 2013-Thunderhill Raceway will change pace this 2013 season by moving its weekly racing program to Friday nights beginning on April 12th, 2013. After much thought, deliberation and talks with racers, Thunderhill Raceway will move to racing on Friday nights, with more than 7 tracks in close proximity and competing on Saturday nights Thunderhill Raceway wants to give its fans and racers the best opportunity to continue to enjoy the opportunity to race at Thunderhill Raceway. It will also give racers and fans the ability to be able to race and visit the other racing venues on Saturday nights. The schedule events at Thunderhill Raceway
for 2013 will remain the same except they will roll back one day
to a Friday night. Gates will open at 4pm and Racing will start
at 7:30pm. We will work hard to move the show along at a steady
pace and get it finished in a timely matter. We appreciate everyone’s input and support of this decision and look forward to a great year of racing at Thunderhill under the Friday night lights.

February 13th, 2012- Thunderhill Raceway has extended its Opening Night to be on Saturday April 13th, 2013 it will be a Regular Show with Points Beginning for the 2013 season. We will have Test and Tune Dates on March 16th and March 23rd from 12pm-Until for everyone needing to shake their cars down before the season opener. Also, the 2013 Rules are set and will be set for 2013 and 2014 Seasons. There will be No changes to the rules unless the track sees fit that the rules need adjusting to level the competition and in the best interest for the racer and the track. Track Rental on a Sunday following a race $400. $100 per additional hour past 4 hours, There will be an extra $50 per hour for night time rental. The person who arranges the track rental is responsible for full payment before or by the date of the track rental. Fair. Racing will resume on Saturday, October 6th, 2012 September 16th, 2012 - On Saturday September 22nd, 2012 Thunderhill Raceway will host its second annual Topless Brawl for the Super Late Models paying $3000 To-Win $300 To-Start and the Limited Late Models paying $1000 To-Win $100 To-Start, along with Regular support divisions racing. The super late models and limited late models will take their tops (roofs) off, to give fans a unique view of how these guys get down to business while in competition. It will be 40 laps and a $3000 pay day to the winner for the super late models and 30 laps and a $1000 pay day for the limited late models. After a couple weeks of extremely dry conditions, water restrictions and lack of water in our pond that we use to water our track, we are finally glad and able to race, as we have found a source of water to get the track watered and prepped to race on. A Business Man's Race is a race in which a sponsor of a car or business owner wanting to race someone's car that races at Thunderhill Raceway, can strap in and race in their own race and have bragging rights if they win. Annual “Danny Sandrell Memorial Race”, featuring a Super Late
Model $3000 To-Win $300 to-start 40 lap race and a Late
Model/Crate $1000 To-Win 30 lap race, along with regular classes
racing. Mr. Danny Sandrell was a long time racer in the super late model division, then later on in his racing career shifted down to the limited late model division. He was also a long time supporter of Thunderhill Raceway throughout his career in racing. Sandrell had won several races at the track over the years. To give tribute and celebrate his life, Thunderhill Raceway is devoting the night of racing on May 26th in honor of Danny Sandrell. The Super Late Models will be
competing for a $3000 pay day to the winner and $300 to start
the 40 lap event feature. There will be a $125 entry fee and

General Admission will be $12 Seniors $10, Pit Admission will be $30, Kids 12 and Under Free April 2nd, 2012- Thunderhill Raceway in Summertown, Tn., is set to begin its 2012 race season this weekend, Saturday April 7, 2012 with the KAJUN Mini Stock Series headlining events and all regular classes slinging dirt around the high banks of Thunderhill Raceway. On Saturday April 7, 2012 Thunderhill Raceway will kick off its 2012 events with a full racing program with all classes racing, including the KAJUN Mini Stock Series, who will headline the night with a $1000 to-win race. Classes at Thunderhill include the Super Late Models, Late Model/Crates, Openwheels, Modified Streets, Street Stocks, and Mini Stocks. Events for the night will begin with hot laps for all classes, then the big boys of the super late models and Late Model/Crates will time trail for position. All other classes will run heat races and then all classes will run feature events. Plenty of racing action for a Saturday night. Gates Open at 4pm, Drivers Meeting 5:45pm, Racing Starts at 7pm. With just a lil over a
week away from opening night at Thunderhill the final Test and
Tune is this Saturday March 31st, Gates will be open at 11am and
Testing will start at 12 Noon—Until. Pit admission will be $15.
The Grandstands will be closed, the concession stand will be
open with drinks, hot dogs, & hamburgers. Anyone wanting to come
and clean up their sky booths or help with general clean up is
welcome to do so, this Saturday March 20th, 2012-Test and Tune #1 is this Saturday March 24th, Gates will be open at 11am and Testing will start at 12 Noon—Until. Pit admission will be $15. We look forward to seeing everyone back at the track, as we get prepared for another great racing season at Thunderhill Raceway.
February 19th, 2012- Due to wet conditions at the track and putting work at getting the new wall and other projects at the track behind, We are adjusting our Test and Tune dates, Test and Tune dates will be moved to March 24th and 31st. We will have our opening night on April 7th, 2012 as scheduled with the KAJUN MINI Stocks and all regular divisions racing.
February 1st, 2012- The
2012 schedule has been adjusted and Test and Tune Dates have
been moved to March 17th and 24th, 2012. Opening night has been
bumped up a couple of weeks to get racing action back under way
at Thunderhill. Opening night will be on April 7th, 2012
featuring the KAJUN MINI STOCK Series with a $1000 To-Win & $50
To Start race, along with all other classes racing. Regular Mini stocks will race their own race, those electing to race in the Kajun Mini Stock on April 7th, can race in it but can not race both classes with the same car. January 20th, 2012- The 2011 Thunderhill Raceway Points Banquet is this upcoming weekend Jan. 28th, 2012 at 7 pm at the Ethridge Church of Christ. Plates will be $15 at the door. Points champions & top 5 in points & 1 guest will be free. The Menu will consist of Barbeque Pork or Chicken and all the fixings and desserts. Also, an engine rule has been added to the Openwheel class that consists of Openwheels electing to run a GM CRATE motor 602 All Steel or a 604 Aluminum Heads. OPENWHEELS WITH GM CRATE ENGINES 604 Aluminum Heads Must Weigh 2350lbs & 602 All Steel Heads Must Weigh 2300lbs A) All Motors will be chipped with a 7500 Chip-Including Crate Motors B) Crate Motors: must be as it is listed – Chevy. Example Chevy crate 604 must have the 50lb Crankshaft – powdered 5.7 connecting rods as called for. C) 1. Valve springs must be factory type called for by GM – NO other type D) 2. Sealed motors will be looked as the Same as all the other Motors in this Class. Time is running out on those that wish to keep their current Booths and Pit Pads. February 1st is the deadline for payment to keep their spots from 2011. After February 1st it will be first come first serve for those wanting available spots. Wayne is at the speedway during the week for anyone wishing to stop by and make payment toward their booth or pit pad for 2012. The 2012 Rules have been Posted, follow the Rules link HERE. Two main rules to be implented in 2012 in ALL Classes is that RaceCeivers are Mandatory, no exceptions! All weights and drive shafts MUST BE painted white with the cars number on it and it must be bolted on with GRADE 8 BOLTS, NO SMALLER than 1/2" bolts. The 2011 Thunderhill Raceway Banquet is
